The 33rd Fajr Music Festival commences with 10 different performances in Tehran.

The 33rd Fajr Music Festival has commenced with 10 different performances in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The opening night, which was held on Wednesday, hosted festival revelers who watched performances by the Chakavak Orchestra and vocalist Abdolhossein Mokhtabad with his Nobang Ensemble.

Meanwhile at the Azadi Tower venue, Nima Ensemble from Mazandaran Province and Jee Ensemble from Kordestan Province gave their performances.

Slovenian musical group, the Wild Strings Trio, along with Mahyar Tarihi from Iran and Austrian pianist Michael Kahr gave their performances at the Niavaran Cultural Center.

The other performers scheduled to play at the 11-day festival include French drummer Manu Katché, Italian musicians Francesco Cafiso and Luca Ciarla, Portuguese singer Ricardo Ribeiro and Indian sitar player Shahid Parvez Khan.

Klenke Quartet from Germany, Renaissance Ensemble from Serbia, Egschiglen from Mongolia and Trio Chausson from France will also perform at the festival.

A number of workshops are scheduled to be arranged on the sidelines of the event hosted by experts in the field, including those hailing from Germany, Austria, Poland and Iran.

The 33rd edition of the the Fajr Music Festival will run in venues across the Iranian capital, Tehran, until January 20, 2018.
